The Choirs
Hosanna Choir - Directed by Sarah Moerman
- For those born in 1997-1999
- Introduction to vocal music and basic musical concepts (rhythm, note reading, dynamics, beginning harmony) with an encouraging environment that allows growth according to ability and interest, and with the aim of working together to produce a unified sound, pleasing to God and man.
Chorus Alive! - Directed by Chris Teeuwsen
- For those born in 1994-1996 (unchanged voices)
- Chorus Alive! is a dynamic choir always alive with various musical styles and often featuring exciting theatrical touches.
Coram Deo - Directed by Sonia Reid
- For those born 1993 or earlier and boys with changed voices.
- Develops a life-long appreciation for choral music; introduces students to four part choral singing; encourages the development of the changed male voice; provides occasional opportunities for touring beyond the greater Hamilton area.
The Orchestras
Requirements & Auditions
- All participants must be studying under the instruction of a recognized instrumental teacher (please provide contact information to the registrar).
- All participants must provide their own instrument and music stand
- All placement decisions are at the final discretion of the orchestra directors.
Da Capo Orchestra - Directed by Lucy Van Dyk
- Participants must be working in Suzuki mid-book 1 or book 2.
- Should have beginning sight reading abilities.
- Provides an opportunity for initial orchestral experience.
Harmony Orchestra - Directed by Lucy Van Dyk
- Participants must be working in end of Suzuki book 3 or beyond (or equivalent).
- Must be able to read music well and sight read well.
Senior Chamber Orchestra - Directed by Erin Goheen
Additional Programs
Strings, Etc! facilitates other music experiences as well. Parents are to make arrangements regarding scheduling and fees directly with the individual music teachers and directors, and submit their registration form with participation fee to the Registrar. Most take place on Mondays in the same location as choirs and orchestras (Meadowlands Fellowship CRC, 211 Stonehenge Drive , in Ancaster).
