The building was constucted in 1879 as a Methodist church.
It became a United Church in 1925 when the Methodist, Presbyterian
and Congregational Churches of Canada merged.
In St Marys the Presbyterian churches did not merge with the Methodists
but more than 100 mostly from Knox Presbyterian did join the new church.
The tower originally had a spire but when it was struck by lightning in the 1940s it was not replaced. |
