OUR STATEMENT OF FAITH
I. Bible
·
We believe in the Scriptures of the Old and
New Testament as verbally inspired by God, and inerrant in
the original writing, and that they are of supreme and final
authority in faith and life. (II Timothy 3:16, II
Peter 1:21, I Peter 1:12, Hebrews 1:1, & I John
1:1-5)
II.
The Trinity
·
We believe in one God, eternally existing
in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (John
10:30, Matt. 28:19, 2 Cor. 13:14)
III. God the Father
·
We believe in God the Father, perfect in
holiness, infinite in wisdom, measureless in power. We
rejoice that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs
of men, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves
from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus
Christ. (Eph. 4:6, Psalm 145:17, I John 3:20, Matt.
19:26, Rev.19:6, John16:27, Titus 3:5, Psalm 65:2, Acts
12:5-11, I John 4:9, & Romans 5:6-8)
IV. Jesus Christ (Son)
·
We believe in Jesus Christ; the eternal and
only begotten Son of God, conceived of the Holy Spirit, of
virgin birth, sinless in His life, making atonement for the
sins of the world, by the shedding of His blood at His death
on Calvary. We believe in His bodily resurrection, His
ascension and visible bodily return, (that blessed hope) to
the world according to His promise. (John 1:1, John
1:2, John 1:3, John 1:14, Matthew 1:20, Matthew 1:23, II
Cor.5:21, Ro. 3:25-26, II Cor. 5:15-16, Mark 16:6, Luke
24:39, John 20:17, I Thess. 4:16-18, & Luke 24:51)
V. Holy Spirit
·
We believe in the Holy Spirit who came
forth from God to convince (convict) the world of sin, of
righteousness, and of judgment; and to regenerate, sanctify
and comfort those who believe in Jesus Christ.
(John
16:8, John 16:9, John 16:10, John 16:11, Gal 5:22, Gal 5:23, II
Tim. 1:7, Rom. 5:5, Acts 1:8, & Eph. 5:18)
VI. Man
·
We believe that man was created in the
image of God, that He sinned, and thereby incurred, not only
physical death, but also that spiritual death which is
eternal separation from God, and that all human beings are
born with a sinful nature, and, in the case of these who
reach moral responsibility become sinners in thought, word,
and deed. (Genesis
1:26, Romans 5:12, Romans 5:17-19, Psalm 51:5, & Romans
3:23)
VII. Justification
·
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died
for our sins, according to the scriptures, as a
representative and substitutionary sacrifice; and that all
who believe in Him are justified on the ground of His shed
blood. (Romans 5:6, Romans 5:8-9, Romans 3:24, &
Romans 5:11)
VIII. Salvation
·
We believe that all who receive, by grace
through faith, the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the
Holy Spirit, and thereby become children of God.
(Eph. 2:8, Eph. 2:9, & John 1:12)
IX. Eternity
·
We believe in the bodily resurrection of
the just and the unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the
saved, and everlasting punishment of the lost. (II
Corinthians 4:14, Luke 14:14, Acts 24:15, I Thess. 5:9, II
Thess. 2:12, & Romans 2:9)
·
We believe in a literal Hell where the lost
will burn forever and a literal Heaven where the saved will
live in the presence of God forever. (II Corinthians
4:14, Luke 14:14, Acts 24:15, I Thess. 5:9, II Thess. 2:12,
& Romans 2:9)
X. Mediator
·
We believe there is one God, and one
mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.
(I Timothy 2:5)
XI. Eternal Security of the Believer
·
We believe in the eternal salvation of the
believer (according to John 6:37, John 6:38
John 6:39, John 6:40 John
10:28-29, & Romans 8:35-39); and the earnest or witness or salvation in the changed life
of the believer (according to, II Cor. 5:17 & Eph. 1:13-14) |
