Alone, you say I am all alone,
No one knows the secret places of my heart,
No one understands the entirety of me,
No one listens to me when I speak.
You say there is no one I feel open with,
No one I can tell my deepest secrets to,
No one I could say anything to,
And still keep my self respect
You say no one has everlasting love for me
No one would die to save me from Evil,
That no one rescues me when I am afraid,
And no one holds me when I am sick or grieving.
Yes, Satan, as you said, these things were true,
No human soul has done any of these things.*
But my Lord Jesus-God With Us--He never deserts me.
He does all these things, and much, much more.
*Obviously, my husband, Adam, also would do all these things, but I hadn't met him yet at the writing of this poem. He was God's answer to the loneliness that permeates this poem.
